The first Superman movie in 20 years is destined to be a summer hit.  With a whole new generation of viewers, the new “Superman Returns” movie is due to get a huge box office draw. There has been much hype surrounding the new movie, with the major stars doing interviews on many television talk shows and in newspaper columns and the internet.  There seems to be little competition coming up against it for the early summer hit.

“Superman Returns” has an almost universal appeal.  It makes a great date movie since everyone can relate to the film.  There is something for everyone since there is an underlying love story and plenty of action and special effects.  The film appeals to children, especially teens, as well.  This is the first time that many people will see a new Superman movie.

Brandon recently went home to Iowa for a pre-opening screening of the movie at a Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines, Iowa  They put out a red carpet and there were hundreds of fans.  Brandon definitely wasn’t used to the attention.  There were even fans waiting for him at the airport, asking for autographs.  To his mom, Katie Routh, her son seems the same as always.  His fame so far has not changed him.  Brandon remembers a time not too long ago when he had to sleep on the floor of his friend’s apartment when he was between acting jobs.  When asked what big purchase he wants to make now that he’s Superman, Brandon remarked that he still isn’t paid enough yet but that will come in time.

From the looks of things, it seems the movie is set to be a huge success that will propel Brandon Routh into instant stardom.  Brandon is not afraid of being typecast in the future, a problem that has faced many of the former Superman actors.  He feels there are plenty of acting opportunities out there and he has faith that his talent will show through no matter what the role. The “Superman Returns” star is already slated to star in the sequel, in 2009.
