  Brandon Routh Shirtless

Brandon Routh was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa until he decided to pack up and move to Hollywood.  His career took off slowly.  In 1999 he got his first acting job, cast in an episode of “Odd Man Out” an ABC television show.  That same year he also was in the music video for Christina Aguilera’s hit song “What A Girl Wants”.

In 2000, Brandon was cast in four episodes of MTV’s late night soap “Undressed” and also appeared on an episode of the WB’s “Gilmore Girls”.  Then, in 2001 and 2002, Brandon co-starred on the daytime soap opera, “One Life To Live”, playing Seth Anderson.  Since then, he has had several small parts on “Will and Grace”, “Oliver Beane” and “Cold Case”.

Brandon has learned a lot since first starting out.  He feels his time spent on the soap opera “One Life To Live” was filled with both ups and downs.  He said the soap experience is interesting but is not for everyone.  Some actors love it, others do not.  He was not happy with the way he was let go from the show, but felt he was ready to go.  Brandon was angry for a while, and then just chalked it up to a learning experience.  It turned out that he got the Superman role partially because of his work on the soap opera, so the situation definitely worked out for the best.

Brandon takes his role of Superman very seriously.  He loved the 1978 “Superman: The Movie” which starred Christopher Reeve. He wants to make sure he does justice to the role.  He feels it’s time for another Superman movie, with more than 25 years passing since the Reeve version.  Brandon wants to make sure the movie is real and that viewers will come away from the movie thinking that it was a great film, not just a good comic book story. Brandon took on the persona of Clark Kent, who is close to Brandon’s real life personality.  Brandon has always been a huge Superman fan.
